Shannon Thomas, CERP, owner, Creative Solutions Special Events, Belmont, N.C., has taken on the role of president for the ARA of North Carolina. Thomas, who joined the ARA of North Carolina board of directors in 2018, succeeds John Scott, owner, First Source Rentals, Burlington, N.C.
“I am very excited about serving as president of our state association,” Thomas says. “I have served on the board for the last couple of years and have learned so much. I thought I knew all that ARA [American Rental Association] had to offer when I was elected to the board; however, there was so much that I didn't know. I am excited to share with our current members and potential members all the resources that are available to them. I am also very excited to be a part of an organization that is working on solutions for the issues that our industry faces.”
Thomas, along with her husband, Brad, founded Creative Solutions Special Events in 2000. The company provides party/event equipment rentals and event planning services and has been an ARA member since 2015. A native of Gaston County, Thomas earned a degree from Belmont Abbey College, Belmont, N.C. She has served on the boards for Girls on the Run and The Shelter of Gaston County, and sits on the executive committee of the Montcross Area Chamber of Commerce.
