What’s your name, company name, job title, and segment your business serves?

Hello, my name is Alberto Pianelli and I'm the General Manager for F&B Rentals in California where we do equipment rentals. I am also the Region 9 director for ARA.

How long have you or your company been involved with ARA and the YPN?

I have been involved in YPN since 2013 when I came back to work for the family business.  My father was also in the YPN when he worked for my grandpa (a million years ago)! I became the Region 9 director recently in March of 2022.

What do you find most beneficial about being involved in the ARA YPN?

The most impressive thing about being in the YPN is how invested the ARA is in my future.  From the leadership training, resources available, and the networking, I feel like they are really there to help me succeed.

Tell us how you have leveraged being part of the ARA YP program in your career?

The leadership and mentoring that I have received through the ARA has allowed me to step into roles I never dreamed of being in.  My first experience with the YPN was actually a YPN conference in San Diego. Most of the California state ARA board showed up and met with us.  There, I got to meet many members whom I had known from being in business, but I was so impressed that they would take the time as fellow ARA members to want me to succeed in our industry.  Gone went the competitive mindset that it was our business vs everyone else, and from it came a mindset of protecting, building, and growing our industry.  I was invited to go to the ARA caucus from that YPN conference and would be invited to participate on the first YPN committee.  I was elected onto the ARA of CA board and would eventually become the president of CA.  All the leadership training has allowed me to grow my business.  All the networking has allowed me to foster friendships that I lean on all the time with work related questions.  I love the rental community and the YPN was the icebreaker I needed to get  introduced to an industry I love.

The next ARA Foundation Impact Project is in Vacaville, California – what are you looking forward to most about being involved in the project and why should other YPs get involved?

The ARA Foundation Impact Projects are a big deal! They are a way for all of the industry to show local communities how important rental is and how much of a difference we can make. The California project in early May is taking place at My Friend's House in Vacaville and if you have the opportunity to get involved, you should! Get registered to volunteer by clicking here!
