Janet Fullmer, 82, of Caro, Mich., died Jan. 15, 2022. An active worker in her husband Dick’s rental business, Caro Rental, in Caro, she also was the owner of Jan’s Beauty Cottage in Caro, an institution that served clients for more than 40 years.

Pamela Jo Holst-VanDerkolk, 56, of Hudsonville, Mich., died Aug. 1, 2022. For the past 41 years, she was the counter person at Taylor True Value Rental, Holland, Mich. She started working in her family’s rental business at the young age of 16.

Michigan rental operators of construction and other heavy equipment have scored a major win. House bills 4833 and 4834, which remedied the personal property tax issue that has been plaguing rental operators for years, were signed into law Thursday, March 24, by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

To help Michigan rental operators ensure they are in compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) requirements under its Powered Industrial Trucks Standard (1910.178(I)), the ARA of Michigan offered forklift operator safety training free of charge in March.
