A message from your regional director

Life is coming back, Region Five members!

I know we haven’t conquered COVID yet, but we have made incredible progress, thanks to the vaccines. In-person meetings are starting to happen, party and event rental operations like mine are hopping and construction is rolling. There is so much happening.

• Finding qualified help. With all this increased activity, I know that rental operations are having difficulty finding employees. Be sure to use the American Rental Association (ARA) Job Board. Every member receives five free postings on the site, so take advantage of them. Learn what else ARA is doing to address this issue and look for additional insights in the August issue of Rental Management. Also, access the new Clean. Safe. Essential. program to see how that can help you onboard and retain drivers. 

• Use your two free HR calls. Once you hire someone, you probably will have HR questions. ARA makes it simple to get answers. All ARA rental store members receive two, free 30-minute calls per year with an HR professional from Ogletree Deakins. You also have access to a full library of webinars and FAQs from Ogletree professionals, two exclusive webinars per year and the latest HR news and updates through Rental Management, ARA social media and other outlets. It’s all there for you as a benefit of membership.  

• Cleveland was the site of the first Community Impact project. Ohio members volunteered June 16 on this joint project of the ARA Foundation and the Toro Company Foundation. It was a great way to show the benefits of rental while helping the Boys & Girls Club. See the full story in this edition of In Your Region.

• The ARA Show™ will be in Las Vegas this October. If you haven’t registered yet, now is the time. Go to ARAshow.org. It will be a great time for everyone in rental to connect, buy and learn. 

• Congratulations to the recent ARA Foundation and affiliate scholarship recipients. This is a great achievement and opportunity. See more in this issue.

As we move forward, let’s not forget what we have been through. Be safe, remain vigilant in your cleaning protocols, stay connected through ARA’s Event Rental and Equipment Rental Facebook pages and get vaccinated, if you’re able, to make this a wonderful reopening.
