The ARA of New York helped members prepare for the spring uptick by hosting a pair of online business management seminars in March and April. Both seminars were delivered by highly recognized and well-received past speakers at The ARA Show™.
On Thursday, March 25, “Act for Survival, Plan for Revival: Financial Strategies for an Unstable Economy” was presented by Barbara Nuss, CPA, and Steve Abercrombie from Profit Soup.
With ideas and scenarios built around boosting a business’s sales, staffing and cash flow position, Nuss and Abercrombie’s session was designed to place businesses on the path to financial success after the challenges of 2020. The strategies shared resonated with participants who were looking to move forward post-pandemic by becoming more resourceful, nimble and innovative.
“I am a new ARA [American Rental Association] member and I sat through the Profit Soup webinar. It was great for me — very relevant and very informative. I took four pages of notes and am rethinking how I run my business as a result. Please keep hosting events like this,” says Judah Parness, CEO, Rent-A-Christmas, Bronx, N.Y.
Then, on Thursday, April 15, “Shut Up and Sell More” was offered. This session, featuring Alan Berg, a Certified Speaking Professional™ with more than 25 years in sales and marketing leadership roles, delivered the key takeaways of how and when to ask the right questions, learn better listening skills, identify strong buying signals coming from the prospective client and sell more efficiently.
“The quality of this webinar showed Alan’s experience with the subject matter,” says Dave Mansbart, product specialist/trainer, ABLE Equipment Rental, Deer Park, N.Y., and ARA of New York president. “Since I am on the construction side, it was better than my expectations. It’s not just for the wedding or event market. A lot of his techniques and tips can easily be used regardless of the type of business you operate. Alan is no stranger to doing training over the internet — he’s been doing it in some form or another since 2007. ARA of New York expects to do more webinars for our members in the future. If members could give us their thoughts on what they want to see, we can try to deliver that topic.”
