In a move intended to provide New Hampshire equipment and event rental operators access to a wealth of region-specific safety education and training resources, the ARA of New Hampshire has joined the National Safety Council (NSC) of Northern New England.
Mark Fraser, owner, Epsom Tool Rental, Epsom, N.H., and ARA of New Hampshire president, says the state chapter chose to join the NSC of Northern New England because of its diverse range of training offerings, some of which include hands-on courses that complement was is available through RentalU, the American Rental Association's (ARA) online education platform.
“We’ve had members asking for forklift training and things like that, and we thought that during this time we needed to make more training available to our members,” Fraser says. “NSC has a bunch of benefits, from basic first aid and CPR to forklift training. They also do OSHA [Occupational Safety and Health Administration] training, like the 40-Hour and 10-Hour courses.”
Fraser says that the benefits of the state chapter’s membership in NSC of Northern New England extends to all active ARA rental store members in the state. Benefits include NSC safety resources, training tools, discounts on NSC products and services, the most current information on injury trends, and health and safety solutions to help organizations create and maintain an effective safety culture.
The presence of a conveniently located NSC training center in New Hampshire was another reason for the activation of the NSC of Northern New England membership.
“There is a training center in Concord that members can go to if they sign up for an in-person course. This is ideal because it is in-state and centrally located. It is off Exit 17 — real close and real easy to sign up and participate in all these things,” Fraser says.
