Chayce Beckham, a heavy machinery operator at the Riverside, Calif., branch location of United Rentals, was named the winner during the season 19 finale of “American Idol,” the hit talent search television show on ABC, that aired on May 23.
During his show audition segment Beckham, originally from Apple Valley, Calif., says he tried out for “American Idol” because his parents and family encouraged him. He has been working at the United Rentals branch for almost three years and says, “We rent out pretty much everything that has to do with construction — forklifts, backhoes, excavators, water trucks. I kind of get to live out every little kid’s dream. I get to play with giant Tonka trucks all day and toys, so it’s a good time.”
His rise to stardom and win recently was chronicled in The Press-Enterprise in Riverside, Calif. To read the story, click here.
