Douglas Drummond Sr., 76, of Northport, Mich., died May 29, 2021. In 1985, Drummond and his wife, Lisa, purchased National Editorial Services, which he ran for the rest of his life. As a true networker, he worked with clients around the world, including many in the equipment manufacturing industry, such as Perkins Engines and Trystar.
Neil Kitson, marketing manager for Perkins Engines, headquartered in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom, shared the following reflection on Drummond after learning of his passing:
“The passing of our friend and colleague Doug Drummond is one in which we are still coming to terms. Doug started working with us over 28 years ago and quickly became a member of the Perkins family, often providing a much-needed laugh and sense of levity. He was instrumental in helping us as a business and incredibly passionate about helping us succeed as a company, but that paled in comparison for the love and pride he had for his family. I was lucky enough to visit his home and meet his family, amazing people who I felt I already knew so well because Doug would regularly share their latest endeavors and achievements. Doug was a real people person and so on our regular catch-up calls, before we talked business, he would also want to know how I and my family were doing, and I know this was the same for my colleagues. Doug’s knowledge of the industry, the media and the editors also set him apart. At shows, when one of the editors would come by our booth, Doug would always know of their latest travels or how their son was doing at university, and new recruits to the industry were always given a hearty welcome and helpful guidance throughout their career. We are so thankful to have known and worked with Doug. He brought so much joy to peoples’ lives. Our condolences to his family. He is deeply missed.”
In addition to his wife, Drummond is survived by his children, Dina Drummond, Douglas Drummond Jr., Claire (Samuel) Baushke, James Drummond and Kathryn Drummond; grandchildren, Amanda (Mike) Kruk, Connor Wiseman, Breghan Drummond, Logan Drummond, Leo Baushke and Hazel Baushke; great-grandchildren, Koen Kruk, Aster Kruk, Cedar Kruk, and Minori Tachibana; and many nieces and nephews.
