Rental operators from across Georgia gathered on Aug. 9 to hear about the latest Department of Transportation (DOT) safety regulations as officers of the Georgia Department of Public Safety performed a live mock DOT inspection.
The ARA of Georgia event, hosted at T3 Event Rentals in Alpharetta, Ga., featured dinner and special guest speakers State Officers James Yacup and Allen Woods.
During their presentation, officers Yacup and Woods’s mock inspections covered driver qualification, drug and alcohol testing, hours of service, vehicle maintenance, accident reports and overall instruction on how to achieve compliance with the established rules.
“It was a great event; the DOT officers were very informative,” says Steven Eisenstein, CERP, president, Classic Tents & Events, Norcross, Ga., and ARA of Georgia board chair.
Paula Taylor, owner, A Mane Event Party & Tent Rental, Decatur, Ga., and ARA of Georgia secretary, also took away a lot from the event.
“I was unaware of the requirements associated with operating commercial vehicles, such as the inspections, insurance cards for drivers, etc. I regret that my team was unable to attend. I will definitely have them available next time,” she says.
“The presentation was good, and the turnout for the event was amazing,” Taylor says, adding that “T3’s facility was amazing and very well kept. I would like to thank them for hosting.”
