Welcome to summer, American Rental Association (ARA) Region Seven members!
If you are like me, your business has been busy since the onset of spring. I don’t see it slowing down this summer either. While this is a good problem to have, we are still dealing with the labor and supply chain challenges. It’s never easy.
To help us navigate this interesting time, take advantage of the ARA Job Portal. As an ARA member, you receive five free job postings. You have nothing to lose, so try it out. To help retain your existing staff, turn to ARA’s RentalU. It offers so many courses and quick, easy-to-digest videos, from the latest ARA Certified courses to the animated Prioritize Safety shorts. Check them out.
Another important offering that could help in the recruitment and retention of employees is the new ARA Healthcare Solution, a partnership with Allstate Benefits and Hub International. Get a quote and see whether this program will work for you and your staff.
Our state associations have taken up the call too. The ARA of Arizona offered a great professional development session June 7 with retired U.S. Navy SEAL Thomas Olmsted. The ARA of Colorado offered an excellent mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) and forklift service tech training April 12-13. They will offer a MEWP train-the-trainer session in August. Check your email on how to register for that event.
I am excited to share that Arizona will be the host location for both the Young Professional Network (YPN) and the Women in Rental conferences during Nov. 29-30. Great keynote speakers are scheduled for both events: Galen Emanuele will address “Transforming Impact: Next-Level Leadership, Culture and Feedback” at the YPN event and Sara Frasca will address “The Three Core Mindsets of Innovation” at the Women in Rental session. Attendees of both events will benefit from a few combined activities too. Registration opens in August. Watch your email for details so you can take part.
Book your hotel room now for The ARA Show™, set for Feb. 12-15 in Orlando. This will be a great show. I know I can’t wait to connect, learn and buy.
I would like to welcome Scott Schuller, new ARA of Arizona associate member director, and Chris Dahmer and Phillip (Phil) Jordan, new members of the ARA of Colorado board. Thank you for stepping up to serve those in your states.
Also, recipients of ARA Foundation and affiliate scholarships were announced in June. Several students from Region Seven were awarded scholarships. Read the story in this issue and then offer your congratulations. These scholarships are a great way to help those who plan to make a career in the industry pay for the education they need.
In addition, I want to offer my heartfelt condolences to former ARA Region Seven Director Barb Bown Wyatt, on the death of her mother, Bernice. Bernice was an important member of the Colorado rental community. She will be missed.
Until next time, I send you all my best. If you have any questions or concerns, be sure to reach out to me.
