The American Rental Association (ARA) launched its inaugural ARA Certified program series in March. Included among the landmark industry certification program offerings is essential training for mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) on the trainer side.
The ARA Certified MEWP Train-the-Trainer course qualifies graduates to train operators with instruction that satisfies OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Administration) requirements and ANSI (American National Standards Institute) A92 standards.
The course includes online self-guided training through RentalU — ARA’s online education platform. Then, students are required to complete a four to five hour live, hands-on training session conducted by a certified master trainer.
The hands-on sessions are being presented by ARA state associations, and on April 5, the ARA of Georgia hosted the first live ARA Certified MEWP Train-the-Trainer event at Yancey Bros. Co. in Austell, Ga.
“Despite some uncooperative weather, the first ARA MEWP Train the Trainer event went off without a hitch,” says Josh Nickell, ARA vice president, equipment segment. “I’m excited for the new trainers to return to their branches and elevate their companies’ safety — pun intended. Special thanks to our hosts, Yancey CAT Rents and the ARA of Georgia, and master trainers Kevin Gern [ARA vice president of education and risk management], Brad Ingram [ARA education development manager] and Scott Anselm [ARA senior account specialist, equipment segment].”
Additional sessions hosted across the region included:
ARA of Florida — May 25, 2022, at Durante Equipment, Hollywood, Fla.
ARA of South Carolina — June 22, 2022, at Party Reflections, Columbia, S.C.
