Elizabeth Lurvey, office manager, Mainely Events, Biddeford, Maine, has taken on the role of president for the ARA of Maine. Lurvey, who has served on the ARA of Maine board of directors since July 2020, succeeds Daniel Morris, general manager, Kennebec Equipment Rental Co., Fairfield, Maine.
“I want to increase overall engagement for both the general membership and the board throughout the state of Maine,” Lurvey says. “I would like to accomplish this by partnering with current members, utilizing our Facebook page to keep the membership apprised of changes, events, etc., and partnering with ARA (American Rental Association) national to ensure updated communications are received.”
Mainely Events was established in 2017 by John Bergeron and Capen Macomber to serve the party and event planning and rental needs of consumers in southern Maine. Lurvey came on board with the company in 2019 and is responsible for all day-to-day tasks to ensure the business is operational — taking orders, scheduling deliveries, inventory management and vendor relations.
In addition to her role with the ARA of Maine, Lurvey — who also is a member of ARA’s Young Professional Network — has volunteered with the Special Olympics of Maine for more than 10 years and has served as the area manager for Cumberland County programs. In this role she is responsible for recruiting and maintaining volunteers, fundraising, venue relations, inventory management and athlete safety.
