Sunbelt Rentals acquires Wagner Rental & Supply

Sunbelt Rentals, Fort Mills, S.C., has acquired Wagner Rental & Supply and its four locations in New Boston, Jackson and Chillicothe, Ohio, and Ashland, Ky. The deal became final on Wednesday, Nov. 9.

Tim Wagner, co-owner secretary/treasurer of the stores, said his company began as Wagner Implement Co. in 1948 and was a Massey Ferguson Agriculture dealer until 1980. At that time, the company made the change to the equipment rental business as Wagner Rental & Supply, with one location in New Boston.

“We added a second location in Jackson in 1992, Ashland in 2002 and Chillicothe in 2010,” Wagner said. “All four locations are now Sunbelt Rental locations.”

Wagner said he will be retiring, but his son, Derek Wagner, and nephew, Kevin Wagner, who also were owners, will be staying on with Sunbelt Rentals as district operations managers. 

As for customers, Tim Wagner said he believes the change will benefit both his employees and customers.

“This acquisition will greatly benefit our 47 employees and our customers with the ability for us to gain access to larger equipment, Sunbelt’s huge fleet and their resources,” Wagner said.

Sunbelt Rentals has more than 1,100 locations across North America.
