The company initially was called Associated Scaffolders and Equipment Co. It provided scaffolding equipment to local contractors in the rapidly growing post-World War II south. In 1968, the company was bought by Gene Hawkins, who brought in his son, Tommy Hawkins. When Gene retired in 1985, Tommy took over as president of the newly renamed Associated Scaffolding Co. The business has since grown to seven locations across North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
