After a pandemic-forced hiatus in 2020 and 2021, members were eager to gather again the ARA of Virginia’s annual Family Fun & Staff Appreciation Day at Kings Dominion, which was hosted on Sunday, Aug. 7.
All park attractions and a catered lunch were on tap for the more than 300 participants, including a team of 55 from Rent-E-Quip, Colonial Heights, Md. “This was our third or fourth Kings Dominion trip,” says
David Darby III, the company’s manager/wedding and event specialist and an ARA of Virginia board member. “Our management team loves the ease of coordinating the event as many of the details are handled by ARA [American Rental Association]. From the staff’s perspective, we always hear great things about their experience at the park.”
Danny Showalter, president, CVR Rentals, Waynesboro, and ARA of Virginia treasurer, agrees that the setup and reduced, all-inclusive pricing of the event made it possible to maximize the number of participants from the Virginia equipment and event rental community to come together for the fun.
“It was a time that all the employees and their families could get together, fellowship with one another and have a great time,” he says. “We had approximately 66 attendees from all five of our locations. For me, it was a great time to relax by the kid’s pool watching the grandchildren play.”
