The American Rental Association (ARA) understands that attracting and retaining workers remains a top concern for equipment and event rental companies everywhere. That is why the association continues to invest in initiatives that aim to connect job seekers with rental career opportunities as well as provide resources that deliver onboarding tools for both new hires and personnel managers.
Some of the latest activity related to industry workforce development by ARA includes:
The ARA Job Posting Portal. Created exclusively for ARA members only, this flagship of ARA’s recruitment assistance resources can help assure that your job postings are seen by thousands of candidates per month. Each open position added to the ARA Job Posting Portal will be shared to 18 additional national and local job boards with whom ARA has partnered, including Careerbuilder.com, Monster.com, Military.com, Google Jobs, Facebook Jobs and many others. For a limited time, ARA members can receive five free 90-day job postings on the ARA Job Posting Portal by using the promo code ARA-5Free2022. Visit ARArentalworks.com to access the ARA Job Posting Portal.
ARA’s new Student Membership. Launched in late 2021, all high school and higher-level education students now are eligible to participate in ARA’s new Student Membership designation. Student members can register as a candidate and have immediate access to more than 4,500 open jobs on the ARA Job Posting Portal and be found by ARA members looking to hire. Additional resources include access to RentalU — ARA’s online education platform; an Intro to Rental certificate course; inclusion in ARA’s Young Professional Network, where they can interact with other industry peers their age; and a free subscription to Rental Management magazine. Students can sign up at ARArental.org/student-membership.
Representation at job fairs. As in-person events at academic institutions have opened up across the U.S. in 2022, ARA workforce development staff has participated in job fairs in major markets like Orlando, Dallas, Chicago and more. These events, many of which occur at technical or trade schools, provide a forum for students to receive information about the broad range of career opportunities waiting for them across the equipment and event rental spectrum and ARA’s Student Membership opportunity.
RentalU onboarding videos. The Human Resources section of both the Event and Equipment catalogs at RentalU now contain brief videos that can go a long way toward making the orientation process smooth for both the new hire and the hiring manager at a rental operation. Check out “Onboarding: Introduction to Rental” for new team members, and “Onboarding Course for Managers” for those in hiring or training roles. Additional workforce development courses and resources will continue to be added to RentalU. Login to ARArental.org/rentalu to get started.
