Case equipment helps with hurricane cleanup

Case Construction Equipment (Case CE),  has provided equipment, service and support to Team Rubicon, a veteran-led disaster relief organization in Louisiana in the wake of Hurricane Laura, which struck southwest Louisiana in August. This includes skid steers and compact track loaders outfitted with grapple buckets to perform route clearance, debris removal, and to work in conjunction with Team Rubicon sawyer teams who are clearing thousands of trees that fell on properties throughout the area.

The area was hit with its second major hurricane of the season on October 9, Hurricane Delta, while cleanup operations were still in full swing. Team Rubicon volunteers evacuated and then transitioned to route clearance as they returned to the Lake Charles area. Local equipment support is being provided by Case dealer Progressive Tractor.

“Team Rubicon is well equipped for this situation — they evacuated teams and equipment to Houston while the second hurricane hit,” says Debbie Townsley, director of marketing, Case CE. “As soon as it was safe, they moved teams back in and are now helping residents clean up from the second hurricane to hit the area in six weeks.”

Team Rubicon serves communities by mobilizing veterans to continue their service by leveraging their skills and experience to help people prepare, respond and recover in the wake of events from wildfires and tornadoes to hurricanes and the coronavirus. Since 2015, Case has partnered with Team Rubicon on the training and support of heavy equipment operators who volunteer in disaster areas where debris removal, property demolition and earthmoving work are required.
