Richison becomes new Area 4 director on the Texas Rental Association board

Alan Richison, vice president and co-manager, Galveston Rentals, Galveston, Texas, has been named the new Area 4 director on the Texas Rental Association (TRA) board. He replaces Jenna Rekoff, also from Galveston Rentals.

Richison has learned the industry from the ground up. “I started here at Galveston Rentals in 2008 as a yard guy. I then started fixing things and went into the mechanical aspect of the businesses. Prior to coming into the rental business, I had worked in construction, so I knew and had used the equipment. I always have been mechanically inclined, so I picked up things pretty easily. Over the years I have worked in almost every aspect of the operation and worked my way up to management. Now, I, along with Jenna, wear a lot of hats here at the rental operation,” he says.

Richison says he is excited about being part of the board. “I think I can bring a different opinion to the board — perhaps an outside look at things,” he says. “I also want to learn more about the industry and meet new people.”

He likes to be productive and offer solutions. “I would like to contribute to solutions and see how we can help each other, particularly those of us who operate smaller businesses. Our operation caters to homeowners and small contractors. Sharing ideas and best practices is important. Roundup was a lot of fun. I would like to help contribute to make that event even better in the future and see what other ways TRA could help rental businesses communicate their problems and offer possible solutions. We all need that, particularly those of us who run smaller operations,” he says.

He is grateful to be part of the state chapter board and says it complements his work at the business. “I like helping people. People who come to our business have a problem they want to address. They don’t have the tools to fix the problem they have. I like providing solutions. It is the best part of my job,” he says, noting that he hopes to help the board in the same way — helping to find solutions for member rental businesses.
