Why do workers accept, stay at and leave a job? Come find out on April 19

On Tuesday, April 19, members of the Mississippi equipment and event rental community will have the opportunity to take in a presentation providing the lowdown on current employment tips and trends, and tour both Thompson Machinery and Busylad Rental in the Tupelo, Miss., area.

The event, which will be hosted by Thompson Machinery in Belden, Miss., will feature guest speaker Jim Goodwill, co-owner of Express Personnel Services, who will deliver “Well, THAT was Wild: What’s Changed in the Employment World, Besides Everything?” Goodwill’s presentation will highlight the following points:

  • Unemployment statistics and pay rates; national and local.
  • How to attract employees: now vs. 2019.
  • Social media vs. classified ads vs. CareerBuilder vs. Indeed.
  • Reasons workers accept, stay at and leave a job.

In addition, roundtable discussions will be centered around topics, including:

  • Plan of action to yield the best results for finding employees.
  • Strategies for making an unforgettable impression on potential employees.
  • Methods to clearly define company culture.

Attendees will be able to tour Thompson Machinery and, after lunch, shuttle down the street to tour Busylad Rental. Several lucky attendees will walk away with some exciting door prizes, too.

Date: Tuesday, April 19

Time: 10:30 am – 2 pm central

Location: Thompson Machinery, 421 Wallace Road, Belden, Miss.
