Davis West, technical solutions representative with Moore, S.C.-based TopTec Event Tents, has joined the ARA of South Carolina board of directors as an associate member director.
In his new role, West will provide input and deliver viewpoints to the board from the event rental supplier perspective.
“It has always been a goal of mine to be recommended for a position within ARA [American Rental Association] where I can have an impact on the growth of the industry,” he says. “Warren Clayton [of Asheville Hwy Rental, Spartanburg, S.C., who serves as ARA of South Carolina president] and Bryan Bolt [technical solutions manager with TopTec Event Tents] both approached me about an opening on this board. I was immediately excited to jump aboard and offer any help that I can.”
West also says that he answered the call to get involved on the ARA of South Carolina board out of “passion. That’s why I want to be involved. I feel it is so rare in life to truly find something you are passionate about, so when I was given the opportunity to be more involved in my industry, it was a no-brainer. I feel this gives me the opportunity to really get to know more individuals in the industry so that I can grow in my knowledge.”
West first became involved in the event rental industry installing tents and setups for events with Spartanburg, S.C.-based Event Rentals. “I give all the credit to this company and Will West for providing me an opportunity to find what I am truly passionate about,” West says. “That quickly sparked an interest in wanting to make a career out of dealing with tents. I worked for that company for about four years and worked my way up to a crew leader. I ended up taking another job outside of the industry, but quickly realized that I missed it greatly. I reached out to my old company in hopes of helping me get in with a manufacturer as a sales rep. That’s when I was presented with the opportunity to serve the Southeast as a rep for TopTec. I have been here for three years and plan on continuing to grow here.”
In his role at TopTec, West serves clients in South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and the Florida Panhandle.
During his tenure on the ARA of South Carolina board, West says, “I would love to help create a way for South Carolina ARA members to grow, network with one another and be a resource for one another. I feel that the great thing about our industry is the willingness for companies to come together and work toward a common goal of success.”
In addition to his professional role with TopTec and his volunteerism with ARA of South Carolina, West is a member of the Manufacturers and Tent Renters Association (MATRA) and the Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI).
